Anecdote* | | Stanley worked in logging camps in his early years. When he was drafted into the military during Word War 2, he was in the Army and was a Corporal in the 301st infantry Regiment and part of this time was during the Occupation in Europe. From about the early fifties Stanley worked at Groveton Papers Company in Groveton, Coos, NH. and probably through the late fifties except in about 1956 when he drove a truck for a short time for the Toledo, Ohio School System. He later returned to the North country of NH. He lived in Groveton, NH. in the late fifties and then moved to Lancaster, NH. from about 1959 to 1986. During that time he continued to work for Groveton Papers Company Mill until about 1986 when he retired. At one time he was foreman of the wood room at the mill. From the late 1980's to about 2006 he lived in Colebrook, NH. Some of that time he lived in a rent upstairs in the home of Everdene Carter on Pleasant Street. Everdene was the daughter of Lucy Pinckney Carter. Later, after he became ill around 2006 he was a resident at the Rochester Manor Nursing Home in Rochester, NH. He passed away in Epsom, NH. July 14, 2009. He was buried in the Veteran's Cemetery in Boscowan, NH. |
