Anecdote* | GHILO, the second Baron, founded the barony of Weedon, in connection with the monastic house of Bauvais which had a small Priory mear Picquigni in Pacady; he was possibly influenced in this by the wave of enthusiasm for the establishment of religious houses which was then flooding Europe, and by the example of Henry I in founding Reading Abbey, to the endowments of which the de Pynkeneys were contributors in respect of their lands in Berks Cartualaires of ReadingAbbey. Ghilo II died about 30 Henry I (1129-30). | |
