Born in England, Mr. Pinckney came to Canada at the age of 18. He apprenticed in printing but switched to mining, smelting and logging, and then radio, for several years. He enlisted in the RCAF in World War Two and spent six years on active service, one of them overseas.
He purchased The Rosetown Eagle in 1947 and the paper prospered. He also became councillor and mayor of Rosetown.
